Small size Suitable for long thin necks

I have a history of neck injuries and currently have four herniated discs and other issues. In the last month I've tried four different collars ranging from $10 to $69. This is by far my favorite and one of two collars that I have not returned. I will be discussing different collars, but if you just want to read the information about this collar, skip to the last paragraph. My problem is that I have a very small neck; its dimensions do not exceed 12 inches. The first collar I bought was DMI Soft Foam Cervical Collar Support Neck, small, 2 1/2 inches wide. 1/2 inch tall, it didn't offer much support. (My neck is long and also thin.) It's like wrapping a soft strap around the middle of my neck. Therefore, looking for a higher collar, I ordered the Procare collar 79-83003, dense density, 7.5 cm, height 46 cm, length, small. The length was short enough, but like my first collar, it was too short. Rigid density could not compensate for growth that was too short. I returned it. Then I decided to bite the bullet and go pricier, so I ordered the Aspen Vista TX Neck Collar (an adjustable size). The description said an adjustable size and I loved how it came down and supported the upper chest and back in the photos. The description also said 'no returns' so I called Revain before ordering and asked if the collar was too big for a return. They said yes, so I ordered it. To my dismay it was really too big. The collar is in two parts, one part is put on at the front, then at the back. The front tucks in the back and Velcro fasteners hold them together. I had to tuck the front so far that the ends of the front were at the back of my neck! When I put everything together there was almost nothing for the velcro to cling to. The part that went up to my upper chest and back wasn't close enough to my body to provide any support at all. Needless to say I took advantage of Revain's excellent returns policy and the corset is already boxed and awaiting shipment. Finally, we come to the collar in question, which is my favorite (Wonder Care Soft Neck Collar supports the neck). This collar has great support and rolls up fully to provide support under my chin. This keeps my neck in a healthier upright position. The front of the collar has a nice deep bevel that offers a natural face/chin shape. It supports the chin as well as the sides and neck. If I'm not moving much, I hold it a little tighter. When I want to move a bit, I loosen it up a bit and it still supports my chin enough that I don't make any silly moves. I can even eat freely with it, it reminds me to bring food to my mouth instead of tilting my head to eat, and keeps it loose enough to swallow comfortably. Breathable holes are a good idea although the weather is still pretty chilly here so I'm looking forward to seeing if they help later this summer. The only thing that strikes me as odd is that the description says this is a soft collar. Mine seems pretty tough, but I personally like its support. LOTS of padding so while it offers great support it doesn't crash anywhere. For reference for those who think small, my neck measures 11 3/4" by 12" in circumference and about 4 1/2" in length from chest (V) to top of neck where where the bottom is. My chin starts. For me there is quite a bit of overlap when wearing it, but it is very comfortable and there are plenty of velcro straps to accommodate different neck sizes. The collar itself is 19 1/2" long (not including the velcro ). The collar is 4 1/2" high on the sides and 3 1/2" below the chin. I believe this could easily fit necks up to 14-15 inches, although the chart says that small ones only fit up to 13". If I dress it up so the ends of the collar just barely touch at the back (no overlap) I can stuff my entire fist into the collar at the front of my neck and leave room. Bottom line, this is me glad i took a chance.that's all i need in a collar.good height, good support, comfortable, good ki Supports and fits my thin neck. I am uploading a photo showing how it supports my neck and chin area. Hope this information is helpful!
