Review on πŸ’Ύ G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR3 1600 Desktop Memory F3-1600C9D-16GXM by Kevin Compton

Revainrating 3 out of 5

This is not the fundamental frequency of 1600 MHz.

So the highest "standard" RAM bar is 1600 MHz. That's not it. This is a stick of 1333MHz RAM overclocked to 1600MHz and needs to be unlocked via the XMP profile on the motherboard. This is not a plug and play 1600MHz. So if you open CPU ID or equivalent software and don't understand why your clock speed is 1333 instead of 1600 (technically you'll be running on half of each of the two channels), it's because you need to enable XMP in the BIOS. This should be SPECIFICALLY stated as many people do NOT want to risk their BIOS and start with it even if it is a simple process. For me, I didn't want the memory tested at 1600. I needed a BASE 1600 so I could tinker with it myself. learned my lesson
