Smaller diameter wire works great with these heavy duty round nose pliers. At the ends of these wubbers, even 14-gauge wire will bend into relatively tight starting loops. According to the Wubbers website, they will work with 12 gauge wire as well. Disappointed at first that the two jaws were the same size, I quickly realized they probably wouldn't benefit from a weaker jaw. The hard padded handle makes this tool safe and comfortable in hand and wrist. Moving on to the heavier gauge wire, I nearly broke my double-sized thin round nose pliers, which extend under 20-gauge wire and twist at 18-gauge. I couldn't be happier.
