Bought for use with a Lenovo G585 laptop with Win 8.0 that came with only 10/100 wired connection and wifi which I don't use. No problems from the start. It has been in use for a few months now and works on both my home/office LAN and my office LAN. Gigabit makes a huge difference when transferring gigabyte files, which I deal with quite often. It also works well when connected to a Cable Matters 7-port USB3 hub, since the laptop only has 2 USB3 ports. The other is for a 4-port USB2 hub that connects a full-size keyboard and trackball, as they don't like the USB2 port that comes with this laptop. Big old fingers just don't like the smaller form factor of a laptop keyboard and the pointer bar is a pain too, the trackball works much better. This USB3 to RJ45 hub and 7-port USB3 hub are the only products I've currently received from Cable Matters, but they both do exactly what they're supposed to do and the shipping packaging for the hub was the same great as both products. .
