I bought this to speed up my DS1517+. I installed a dual Kingston 240GB NVMe and nah. The tech support representative said that this is a fairly common complaint. If you're using this to add NVMe SSD caching to the DS1517+ like I did, take your time. While I knew the previous card would only support SATA speeds, it was great to see that the M2D18 could take advantage of the much faster NVMe protocol. So like an idiot I buy a card and 2 NVMe drives to make it work. Only to find out that this card doesn't include the NVMe protocol on the DS1517+ even though it's 'compatible'. If you have the same situation, you can only use SATA because DS does not recognize NVMe. I really love Synology products and while these addons are definitely overpriced, they usually work. I personally think that Synology should clarify this fact better. The consumer is fooled into adding the NVMe protocol, although this is absolutely not the case with the DS1517+. Again. In hindsight, I agree that they end up telling you that you probably won't have NVMe, but no. They played around and stated the compatibility here. He must have a huge star!
