I've always loved quilts but I only had quilts from my grandmother. This is the first store bought blanket I own, very different from the blankets I used to wear growing up. But I was gifted an antique bed that my family has had for ages and I thought it would be a good excuse to go for a very traditional, classic look. This blanket is just beautiful. It's thin, as a blanket should be, but very soft and warm, perfect for the fairly mild Central Texas winter we're having right now. In the winter I try to keep the heat out and my apartment usually stays in the 60's and this comforter is perfect for snuggling up at night. The background of the quilt is a rich cream color with a slight yellow undertone, so I wasn't sure what color to choose for the sheets. I ended up buying some pink, sage and ivory. Everything looks great with a patchwork quilt, but sage works best—a great way to bring out the green of the leaves on a quilt. I also bought a matching skirt for the bed, although I would have preferred a pink fabric instead of a striped background pattern. Either way, this is a wonderful, comfy blanket, perfect for a very traditional yet feminine look. the look of the bedroom.
