Great product. A spring-loaded mechanism applies positive pressure to hold the tray in place. I use it to hold a 16 ounce bottle of shampoo, a 16 ounce bottle of body wash and a small tube of facial cleanser and it has never come loose. I installed this on limestone tiles. Smooth but unglazed surface. I particularly like the round holes on the tray that allow you to flip the bottles when they're empty (suitable for the brand I use, but may not work with all bottle caps). My only complaint is that after a few years the rubber on the tabs that hold the suction cups to the tray becomes brittle and can break if you try to remove it for cleaning (so I had to buy another one).
