Review on White JBL Live 660NC Wireless Over-Ear Noise Cancelling Headphones - Long Lasting Battery, Voice Assistant by Sung-hoon Hwang ᠌

The product is the most common, it could be worse.

The proximity sensor for automatic playback / pause apparently only reacts to a strongly pressed ear, and if the ear is almost located in the wrong place, the sensor starts to act naughty. And okay, I would turn off this function and forget about it safely, but after all, when you turn it off, there is still a sound notification that squeaks at idle when the sensor loses or detects an ear. Also on the outside of the left earpiece is a sensor for calling an assistant, which, again, is supposedly turned off in the application. Only after rebooting the headphones, it turns on again. As a result, any correction of the headphones leads to a parade of notifications either from the proximity sensor or from the assistant. I solved the problem with the assistant by resetting the headphones to the factory settings (hold the volume + and - for 5 seconds) and simply not turning on the assistant in the application anymore - in this case, the sensor on the left earpiece does not respond to touch in any way. The latest firmware at the time of writing is 3.4.0. By the way, I didn’t receive any notifications about the new firmware in the application, I just clicked on the version and suddenly received an ate. A feeling of vacuum in the ears (even without noise reduction and with transparency mode), from which the head starts to hurt. In general, it was impossible to use, like vantus in the ears. Either the ear pads are too thick here, or this is a feature of all full-size headphones - I don’t know. But this is my personal taste, I don’t like vacuum plugs, for example. So if you don’t like them either, then these headphones probably won’t suit you either. The disadvantages cover all the advantages, I returned the headphones to the store, took the JBL Live 460NC - these are similar headphones, only they have smaller ear pads, due to which the vacuum effect is not created. They also have similar problems with sensors, but due to the form factor, they are not so pronounced.

Pros
  • - Sound, pronounced bass - Design - Build quality, material - No stupid voice notifications "Bluetooth ON / OFF" and "Power ON / OFF" - Autonomy - Type C
Cons
  • - The auto play / pause function when putting on / taking off the headphones does not work well and does not turn off completely. - Sensation of vacuum in the ears - Noise reduction settings are not saved on reboot. - In noise reduction mode, the wind is heard more strongly than without noise reduction.
