I love Desert Essence products in general, but it's a seesaw and a miss. The essence of oil pulling is to rinse your mouth with special oils to cleanse it of impurities. This is a very simple process that should be easy and the flavor should be mostly neutral. However, Desert Essence really took this concept to something that I just don't think is worth even at such a cheap price point. It seems to me that they are trying to create a mix of mouthwash and oil mouthwash rather than a pure oil mouthwash product. It has a double layer of oil that needs to be shaken vigorously and poured out immediately before the oils separate again. Once the oils are in my mouth there is a very unpleasant taste, sweet but pungent and bitter. I think the combination of xylitol and flavors (mint and tea tree) is what makes it so off-putting to me. YMMV. I will return to my Banyan Botanicals Daily Swish. It's worth a few dollars more.
