Review on Weishidai Mat Board Cutter Blade - Pack of 10 Blades by Carla Anderson

Simple design - operation can be learned

In the end I was satisfied with this purchase, but the operation definitely requires some practice. First I laid my cutter on a sewing mat. That's usually a good idea, but in this case it's not. The blade must sink into something. A piece of cardboard with no creases will work well. It's easy to get a crooked cut at the creases. A straight cut requires a low profile ruler as the blade's knob protrudes quite a bit and runs close to the mat. I used a larger ruler for the bevel cut than for the straight cut. I also pinned my work to the table to keep it from moving. This proved to be an invaluable idea, since it's fairly easy to get a crooked cut (as with any small, simple cutter). In general I am very satisfied. I practiced a lot before making a miter cut for the rug. Caution: Be very careful when cornering. If you need to cut more, pin again; Don't try to make small cuts by hand.

Pros
  • Elegant design
Cons
  • Long delivery time
