I used to have an ultrasonic humidifier and just didn't know any better. After a while, pink slime and weird stains on my furniture finally drove me to explore the area. This humidifier does a great job without the need for visible vapor in the air. Be sure to use a hygrometer to check the humidity in your room. My humidity went from teenage lows to mid-30s during that harsh winter using just the low setting. The water tank is also very easy to clean thanks to the wide opening. The filter has stayed pretty clean in the month I've been using it. Be sure to turn the filter over and wash it in cold water every few days. Overall I am very impressed with such a simple machine and am in the process of buying another one for my son's room. Last but not least, the thing is absolutely silent on low settings. Even at high settings, this is no more than the usual white fan noise heard on a moderately warm summer night. Highly recommended!
