Review on HP 2009M 20 Inch LCD Monitor with 1600X900 Resolution and Built-In Speakers by Kevin Watwood

Vertical placement of two monitors HP2009m

I usually run dual monitors on my desktop PCs because it's easier to multitask with multiple monitors. Unfortunately my monitor broke (Viewsonic dude) so I ran off to buy a new monitor to make a living. The first thing that caught my eye was this HP2009m with BrightView technology. I know it as my HP laptop uses it as a display and it's great. I wanted two, but Wal*Mart only had one, so I bought the second one from Revain. Usually when something is out of stock at the store it tells me it's a good product. You have to worry about products collecting dust on the shelves. The resolution is excellent, 1600 x 900 (1600 x 1800 double top and bottom) and with the large icon setting to bypass the sleek look of the high-resolution desktop icons, the display is pin-sharp. With a 5ms response time, video looks very clean, without the banding that plagued older LCD screens like the ones these monitors replaced. Can't beat the price, the display is impeccable, I can't really say anything bad about this monitor, but if I had any suggestions for improvement: I'm sure the bright white power LED is what HP finds cute, but I've seen it that flashlights emit less light. It can really be mitigated. An adjustable height would be nice. Height adjustment is essentially changing the height of what you set it to. The legs have a fixed height. It is 2 inches higher than the table. If you want it lower, you're out of luck, and if you want it higher, set it to phone book or something. With two monitors, the color changes depending on the viewing angle. I'm sure it's the BrightView's glossy finish and while it's not outstanding, it will be noticeable to a dual-monitor user. Overall, I am very satisfied with the monitor, especially considering the price/performance ratio. The old principle of "get what you pay for" This monitor has exceeded all expectations.

Pros
  • Worked great. Good price.
Cons
  • Unreliable build quality.
