After reading horror stories about comparable products I immediately tested the one I received. I will be staying in Europe for a few months and wanted to make sure this product worked. I connected it to a dryer socket (240 volts) and connected a 110 volt heater to the converter. The heater on "low" drew nearly 5 amps, about 560 watts. After 30 minutes the temperature of the unit was 92 degrees. (Ambient temperature was 90). At this point I was satisfied and stopped the test. I haven't checked ground continuity. The packaging was sufficient.
