I have a rudimentary knowledge of BIOS settings and I think it would have helped with the install, but to get the most out of this RAM it was just a matter of plugging it in, clicking the XMP selector and booting . It just worked. It's not the best price for DDR3 RAM, but my first (cheapest) choice saved the hardware from failing. This one did it on first boot. My old LGA1155 motherboard is now 32GB max. Aside from a complete overhaul of my system, I couldn't be happier. Definitely recommend this RAM if you are happy with the color. The other picture in the review is more like what the heatsinks look like on my product than the picture on the page. If you look directly at the main circuit board, the circuit board is covered. Looks smooth with the overall blue look I was aiming for.
