Good durable leash at a reasonable price

This is undoubtedly a pretty good leash for the price. I am a professional dog trainer and volunteer at local animal shelters and I have TEN of leashes. I decided to try this one and see how it holds up. Plus it's very affordable! That's what I thought. PRO: β€’ Good workmanship. The stitching is heavy and the nylon work is clean and precise. That's always a good sign. β€’ Good elasticity in the bungee area. β€’ The movement handle has a small pad. This is comparable to EzyDog's Zero Shock leash, but EzyDog doesn't add any padding to the traffic descriptor at all, which doesn't make sense to me. It's more convenient to hold on to. β€’ Large locking carabiner with long teeth. I don't usually like lobster clasps on leashes because they are more prone to accidental opening compared to standard clasps. However, this one has some of the longest prongs I've seen on a lobster clasp. I think this will seriously reduce the occasional "clipping". I never had a problem with it while trying it out and had no trouble putting it on or taking it off. β€’ I believe the loops on the handle are designed to change the length of the line as a whole. However, they're also great for attaching accessories like grocery bag holders, lights, etc. I think it's a pretty cool addition with a lot of possibilities. CONS: β€’ The main disadvantage of this leash is the included carabiner. This should be clipped into loops and shorten the line if necessary. This carabiner won't last long. I've seen this a million times. The gates don't abut and connect to the frame like the best do, so strength is very weak. It breaks when a strong dog pulls hard enough or sinks to the bottom from the impact of the leash. In addition, the pins quickly fail and the gate simply falls off. This little guy is great for small accessories (like loops), but if you want to use it as pictured, get a real carabiner at an outdoor supply store or hardware store. Anyway, the real carabiner has 101 other uses with a leash, so here we go. The second potential downside I've encountered is that the movement button is very close to the clamp. This means that it is only suitable for medium to large dogs. If you have a small medical dog or small dog, you probably won't really benefit much (if at all) from a traffic controller. BUT you could reportedly change the length of the entire leash with the carabiner + loop option - even move the carabiner to the motion control handle - and you could potentially end up with a short leash suitable for a small dog. Aside from those two things above. I was happy with this leash. It is compact, light and well made. Be sure to take the "Arsenal". Haven't found the "perfect leash" yet, but for certain settings it will be good. If you have a fairly obedient harnessed dog and are somewhere on a trail or hiking, I would probably choose this dog over most others.

  • Sleek design
