These towels are thinner than some I've seen in stores but they're great for what I need them for. We use them on our granite kitchen island. If you're concerned about the heat protection of a wooden table, consider something with a higher heat resistance rating, depending on whether you plan to place anything other than hot plates on it (these mats protect up to 80 degrees, but I've seen others which protect up to 120 degrees). They are very easy to clean. We have the Blackcoffee version which is a black and tan fabric. They look great on my countertop.
