Pleasantly surprised to see a discrete graphics card! Great entry-level PC.

I've been building PCs since the 1980's and while I have a lot of spare parts that could easily be made into something for my kid, I really wanted something that would work right out of the box. Enter this desktop computer from HP. I ordered it in January and it arrived yesterday. I was wondering why it was taking so long, but last night I opened it up and found out why. At first I thought it was just APU. It has a 5300G processor, which is an APU, but then they added a discrete RX 5500 card. The first thing I did when I got it was install a 1TB SSD for gaming. I then added 16GB RAM as my kid is an artist. and you work a lot with photoshop and video. The dismantling is quite easy. HP, like Dell, has some proprietary screws and hardware inside. It offers space for a drive (SSD or HDD) in the front slot. The cage is not a standard size and is held in a proprietary manner. You will need a TORX screwdriver to open the case and remove the cage. The CPU fan is really cheap and I would upgrade sooner rather than later. The IO is decent and gives you plenty of options to connect to the case. small body It's about the same size as an ITX, maybe a bit bigger. User Benchmark ranked it as a gaming yacht and aircraft carrier for desktop use, which I think is its intended purpose. He plays most games fairly well. If the graphics card dies you can run it with just the processor, but I couldn't find the HDMI connector on the motherboard, there is a panel on the back that may cover the connector (not sure). Summary: Overall, this is a fantastic entry-level PC capable of playing decent games at 1080P. This is PERFECT for updating later. You CANNOT install a full size graphics card. If you know anything about PCs, you could probably build one for the same price. If you just need a good gaming PC to survive the card fall, then this is a great alternative.
