My children use it from the first tooth. I wanted them to start with a mint flavored toothpaste that was similar to most of the toothpastes they use throughout their lives and not the usual sweet starter toothpastes for kids (like strawberry or jelly beans). Too many foods for kids focus on being sweet, basically teaching them to prefer sweet foods to salty foods from the start. The mint flavor is very mild, the sweetness of xylitol is also very mild, it cleans teeth well (no tooth decay for 3 kids and 9 years old with this product). I love that it's fluoride-free, and I also appreciate that the ingredient list is better than most kids' toothpastes. Even Tom's Mint Mild Toothpaste contains sodium lauryl sulfate. Weleda made the most effective diaper cream I've tried for my babies and that's what motivated me to try their toothpaste. I highly recommend it.
