I purchased a trunk strapping tool to install new boots on my Acura Legend's OEM driver side axle and a new passenger side OEM axle that was not fully assembled. After struggling with axle vibration at the parts store, I decided this was the way to go. After watching a video on how to use the tool, I was quickly able to use it. The first group went well. I pulled the tape as tight as I could with my hand. I then fed the ribbon through the slot in the front of the tool and cutter and inserted the end of the ribbon into the spool. After that, I twisted the roller to tighten the tape to the boot (not so tight that I risked cutting the boot), poked the tape with a hole punch, and trimmed the excess with the built-in cutter. Easy. The second ribbon was about 1/4 inch shorter than it could fit in the winder. So I had to use a vise to pull the tape tight enough so I could pull it even tighter with a winder and then make the cut. As others have mentioned, my only criticism of this tool is that for smaller bands, the winding mechanism needs to be placed closer to the front of the tool.
