I have been using Deco products for many years, most recently using M5 mesh. According to the specification, the M5 must offer 500 Mbit/s WLAN speed at all times. This mesh ran on top of an Ethernet backhaul due to the shared wireless backhaul. But even with a wired connection, it kept dropping below 200Mps, quite randomly but noticeably. I have changed my cable modem several times, cable modem/router is in bridge mode. So I decided to upgrade to the X90 which is overkill for the service I have. It's easy to replace the main M5 router with the newer X90, but first add the X90 to your existing Deco mesh and update the firmware. You can then set the X90 as your main Deco router via the app. While the new X90 mesh still uses a wired transport network, it can still use M5 blocks if you need more coverage. I've had fewer speed and stability issues since installing X90, so it's worth the upgrade. Bonus: If your devices support Wi-Fi6, speeds will be significantly faster than wireless connections as long as you're connected to the X90. If you have other Deco devices like the M5 in your mesh, all of your devices will switch between themselves, so you can use the X90 with Wi-Fi6 and then the M5, which doesn't support Wi-Fi6, but the connection will remain stable. Overall, this is a good mesh network.
