My husband and I purchased this to serve as the primary sound for our bedroom, where we have a television, blu-ray player and a Roku streaming video box. We also stream music via bluetooth from our iPads and iPhones. If you're looking for true home theater surround sound, this won't do it for you. Ditto if you're an audiophile who demands perfect sound replication. However, if you just need good, clear sound for movie and TV watching or casual music listening that is a clear improvement over TV speakers, this is a good system and a reasonable price. The SoundBase itself is quite large, 30" long, and about 15" deep. It is also rather heavy, but then, it's made so that you can set a TV on top of it. We have our TV mounted on the wall. I set up the SoundBase myself (my hubby is our resident AV guru, not me) and it took less than 10 minutes for me to get it out of the box, up on the shelf and hooked up to the TV with an optical cable. It provides good, solid sound for our use (generally late night TV or movie watching in bed before we go to sleep). I particularly like the AccuVoice feature, which really does work well to single out voices from the background sound. I don't have a hearing impairment, but sometimes I want to watch a movie and the hubbster wants to sleep. And with many movies, if you turn the volume up enough to hear the dialog, the background music or special effects are way too loud. This way, I can watch the movie and hear the dialog, without the other movie sounds interrupting the sleeping Hubby. I find the remote to be simple and intuitive to use.The bluetooth feature pared almost instantly (a few button clicks) with my iPad with no problems. As others have said, it doesn't auto connect and you have to reconnect it each time after you break the connection, which can be a bit annoying (If I'm being honest, it's mostly annoying when I'm very tired and just want some music on as I go to sleep - it forces me to wake up a little and pay attention while I pare the devices). Really not a big problem, but if ZVOX can provide an autoconnect functionality in future versions that would be a plus for some of us.We haven't yet tried plugging a subwoofer into the unit, to see if it makes a difference in the sub sound. For the moment, the SoundBase does a reasonable job of replicating the base for our purposes.
