NOTE: I USE 2 UNITS (and have leftovers for later) because I have a lot of shoes. I bought it because the shoes were in boxes and I couldn't find anything. Wasted extra time each day trying to find a specific pair or wore the same shoes all the time because I was too lazy to hunt. The assembly is quite easy (I will put 4 out of 5). Not as hard as some reviews suggest. Those people probably didn't read the instructions at all. Be sure to read the instructions first and create an installation plan before you get started. It took me 2 hours to take everything out of the closet, assemble it, take the shoes out of the boxes and put the shoes in the block. As others have said the options are limited due to the amount of detail. I chose the "top" position rather than across because I have some very high heels that require height in the slit and limited width where I place the device due to clothing. For reference, I wear most of my shoes in a size 8.5 (US). Yes, a hammer is included, and yes, you must use one to ensure everything is securely assembled, even if you hear a "click" when you press the part. I haven't had any breakage issues, but I can see that the plastic can tear and the wire frames can bend during assembly if you're not careful. Very happy with the purchase and would definitely recommend.
