I've changed quite a few soundbars over the last 15-20 years but my latest combo of a Bose TV speaker with a 500 bass Module is definitely the best sound I've ever had. I bought a TV speaker separately a few months before the bass module, at the recommendation of my brother-in-law who had one. I used to have a budget LG soundbar with a wireless subwoofer, but the subwoofer kept turning on and off. Tried in various places to improve wireless transmission (as recommended in internet forums), but without success. So I drove this system into the basement and bought a Bose soundbar. Very happy with it and its price ($250) but felt like I was missing the bass. I had a standalone subwoofer powered by a previous 5.1 sound system that I wanted to connect to the soundbar's bass out. But there was no signal. I searched the internet to see if there is a solution. Vain. The Bose literature only talks about plugging in one of their bass modules, so I have to assume Bose must have some kind of handshake protocol between the soundbar and the bass module. One of the main reasons I bought the Bose TV Speaker was that it had a dedicated wired output to power the subwoofer (in addition to the wireless). I was eventually able to use another subwoofer by plugging it into the TV's RCA audio out jacks and running a Bose soundbar with optical output. The only problem with this arrangement is that there was no remote control for the subwoofer audio level. There was a gain control on the back, which I ended up setting at nominal, but when I mute the TV for something like a phone call, the subwoofer stays on. At $400 for the bass and $250 for the soundbar, the total investment was $650. I would never justify buying a $650 sound system, and before spending $400 on an add-on module, I had to ask myself if it wouldn't be better to just ignore the sunk cost of a TV speaker and get another soundbar/ to buy a subwoofer. -Woofers for less than $400. But all other systems come with a wireless subwoofer, which bothered me. So bite the bullet and treat yourself to a boy toy here and get a bass module. Before I bought this from Revain I looked elsewhere. FYI - Bose never gives discounts. Everyone sells it for $399. I've found a few used ones on eBay, but the auctions have always been over 90% new, so I've decided to just get a brand new unit with a full warranty. The next problem was availability. Everywhere they wrote that they were sold out without knowing when they would be available. I went ahead and ordered it from Revain when I saw what they had in stock. I had to check every day when they were. The original price was 4 weeks delivery, but in the end appeared after 10 days. I absolutely love the sound. Great looks. Low profile that hides well. You don't have to shell out $10 for a Bose cable - any 3.5mm audio cable will do. Got a longer one from Revain for half the price.
