When attempting to rebuild the front master cylinder on my 1979 Yamaha XS1100SF, I spent an hour trying to remove the snap ring holding the piston in the cylinder with no success. The snap ring is almost an inch lower in the cylinder. None of the pliers I had were long enough to reach it and the two screwdriver method didn't work. I just didn't have the right tool for the job. I saw these pliers offered on one of the motorcycle forums and ordered them. With them I was able to remove the locking ring in less than a minute. While it was a little pricey for this project, it was a lot cheaper than having the master cylinder repaired at my local shop. I don't regret buying them at all. Sometimes having the right tool is crucial - this is one of those cases. Plus, next time I rebuild the master cylinder, I'll have the tools I need if I can find them.
