Learn how to use the mini-teacher correctly.

As with any new piece of equipment, learn from a pro. Our professional handler showed us how to place the Mini Educator on our GSD work leash and adjust the signal strength to get the desired results. Results on our GSD start at 18 and go up to around 15 throughout the day. Every dog is different so it's best to have your trainer set everything up and go through all the necessary sections for proper use. This is a TRAINING device, not a torture device. DO NOT place the receiver on the trachea as this may cause irreparable damage to your pet/family member. Our trainer has over 25 years of experience teaching animal welfare work. . Her brother trains dogs for the K9 police and military. GSDs are inherently protective of family members, but must be properly trained to achieve the desired level of protection. A mini educator helped in our German Shepherd work line so my 100 lb 83 year old wife could safely walk our 63 lb 5 month old "Jameson" without falling to the ground and possibly breaking bones or injuring herself to contract that she should be taken to the hospital.
