Review on ๐Ÿถ Havahart Remote Training System by Joshua Martinez

could be better but doesn't feel bad so far

I have a very old dual check e-collar that doesn't have any less punitive options than this collar so I ordered this collar. I like the different options that many modern collars have, such as: B. noise and vibration. This Havahart collar has either an audible alert or an audible stimulus alert and it has 5 intensity levels that you can set so it seems like a decent collar for that matter. The collar is nylon webbing with a plastic quick release buckle. You need 2 different batteries, both of which are included. Also included is a very small jeweler's screwdriver for use with the screw on the back of the controller, 2 sets of probes (long and short) for long or short haired dogs and 2 sets of instructions ie a small booklet and plasticized cards to take with you . This collar is not designed for use as a leash collar, so it does not have a ring or anything to attach a leash to. If you need/want to use a leash with this collar, you will need a different leash collar. If you are purchasing this or any other similar item, please read the instructions carefully. Failure to do so may cause your pet severe pain and/or discomfort and you may easily fail to exercise your pet on this device unless the device is installed and functioning properly. Save yourself and your pet a lot of hassle and inconvenience and take the time to understand how this thing works. As I said, I got this device because I didn't want to use the old e-collar I have as I have a rather shy rescue dog. I wanted to be able to use stimuli other than electric shocks to try and train him. He doesn't respond to treats like a normal dog, often not even eating them, which has hampered my training regime so far. My dog is 4 or 5 years old and weighs 120 pounds and is very smart when he wants to learn. . :) He doesn't seem to mind wearing a Havahart collar. So far I have only used the collar in sound mode. This usually frightens him, thus diverting his attention from what he is doing. It's good to teach him to do what I don't want him to do and let him know he's not doing what I want him to do. But progress is slow. If he's really excited or scared, he won't pay attention to the sound coming from the collar. I will continue healthy training for as long as possible until I get to the point where there is no progress. Then I use the combined tone and stimulus mode. I know my old stimulation collar will give results, so I'm assuming this collar will do the same in stimulation mode. I just didn't want to start with it and given the dog's shy nature would probably do more harm than good. I would prefer the collar to have 3 modes: tone, stimulus and vibration. I think sound and vibration will be better than just sound. But I'm relatively happy with the device the way it is. This gave me another way to convey commands to the dog and most importantly, I didn't always have to keep him on a leash during training. So the collar has enhanced my training efforts which makes me very happy.
