Review on πŸ§₯ Marmot Montreal Women's Knee-Length Puffer Coat: Women's Clothing for Coats, Jackets & Vests by Andrew Gomez

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Runs a little so it's great for a petite person like me!

I have a hard time finding clothes that fit me, especially outerwear. I tried on a million fur coats last winter and actually bought/ordered over 20 (yes, really). I bought this on purpose because I've seen constant reviews about it running small full size and I'd say that's true. I'm 5ft 1in, <100lbs, 30C/32B and usually want a petite XXS/00. I'm so glad I have this coat in a size XS - it works great. It's very comfortable for me and I can still wear a sweater or sweatshirt underneath. The sleeves are not big balloons like most other down or padded coats. The lapels are wide so it's puffy and the silhouette is a bit flared, but it fits my upper body well and is very warm and easy to move (standing/walking/sitting/stairs). Cute cozy fleece. Soft collar and lined pockets. like microfleece, but doesn't stick to dry skin (HORRA!). The collar isn't too high so you can pull it all the way up without feeling like you're wearing some sort of medical hood. The hood is fairly snug fitting, which I like as it stays in place in windy conditions. The faux fur isn't the best I've seen, but it's not the worst either, and it can be removed. If you want. Inside there is a deep patch pocket on the left chest (so open without a zipper) and a zippered pocket on the right side. Another little feature I love is that the main front zipper ends about 1 inch above the hem, meaning the bottom zipper puller doesn't extend past the hem of the coat. This always bugs me, so I was pleasantly surprised by this thoughtful design feature. The fabric isn't that thin that it will definitely tear/stretch, but it's fairly light; it is matt and does not rustle loudly when moving. I also tried the Marmot Strollbridge coat which I liked for some superficial design features like the closure and the magnetic strip covering the zipper, but overall it didn't work and the color was too black. Although the photos don't show it exactly, the difference between "black" and "charcoal" on the Montreal coat is that "black" has contrasting mid-grey stitching for the Marmot logo, while "Carbon Black" has a What I like better is a much less obvious black stitching (as seen in the picture). I highly recommend this as a very warm mid-thigh coat that is light by the literal lb/oz weight. I would recommend ordering one size up from your usual size and whatever that is I don't think it's the right choice for those who are particularly busty or have relatively large arms.
