This is one of those products that I don't need right away. No, I'm not a climber, I wasn't particularly interested in the fight. fight, yes The thing is that it can be used as a grappling hook and comes with a 33ft parachute and two carabiners, a very strong carry bag. I couldn't refuse. I'm one of those guys who still has an ALICE backpack from my time in the US Marine Corps a few decades ago. I have all kinds of gear just in case. That's the only thing I didn't have. I just signed up on July 5th 2019 so didn't have time to even play around with the grappling hook, another reviewer handled it pretty well. As for the gravity hook, I wanted to see if it could actually pick up a coin from a flat surface. To test this, I used a 2000 one dollar coin. It's slightly larger than a US quarter but heavier. I placed the coin on an old worn carpet. I made many quick attempts and within a minute I successfully grabbed the coin and was able to pick it up and put it in my hand and really had to slam my jaws down to free it. Now there is a trick to lift the coin, you have to grab it in the middle of the scale or it will slip out, but it works. That alone is impressive. For further tests I took the usual stuff. Car keys, flashlight, .45 cartridge, necklace, pen, small bottle of aspirin, notebook, purse, lighter camera (didn't try to grab the camera myself, just aimed at the wrist strap), heavy wet towel, pocket knife, etc. I have them over the Carpet scattered and successfully found each item from head height (I'm 6ft tall) and 90% of the time each item only took one try. I haven't tried a cell phone just because I'm the kind of chicken who can crack a screen while fooling around. However, most cell phone cases have the option of attaching a wrist strap. I don't have it on my phone yet. The fact is, cameras and phones tend to be larger than the 1.5-inch pine. But this tool is very, very good at grabbing a rope and lifting a heavy, large object if there's something to grab onto with your jaws. If you drop your wallet or pocket knife in a ravine or similar while you can see it and it's within range of that parachute, I'd say you have a really good chance of getting it back very quickly. This rating is for gravity grip jaws. I'll test the grappling hook as soon as I have a safe chance to test it.
