I used this to combine two 5 inch twin mattresses. One thing to note is that if you put two beds together instead of two mattresses on the same metal frame of a large double bed, the distance between the two mattresses will be larger than intended. I ended up buying a king size mattress topper to cover/protect both mattresses and reduce the "hump" caused by the bed falling. In terms of comfort, I haven't actually slept in this bed, but my sister said it was very comfortable. Since I used it on a 5 inch thick mattress, getting a strap that wraps around both mattresses to hold them together was a little tricky. I think if you use it on a big mattress you won't have a problem.
