Review on Quik Grip Light Truck CAM LSH Tire Traction Chain Set - Security Chain Company QG2228CAM by Jimmy Hargrove

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Good solid chains for tires

So these chains seem extremely strong and so far I am very happy with the purchase. They're easy to put on only if you know what you're doing and take the time to play with them at home well before your next ride on snowy/icy roads. DO NOT wait to get dressed if you are already making your way through the snow. Watch the video, read the instructions and most importantly, be patient and take your time (at home when it's a nice warm day outside). And take your time. Built-in cams work great, but when you first put the chains on the bar you need to slack the chain as much as possible (this is where you have to make an effort) before tightening the cams. Some report that the cams don't tension the chains enough. They will if you get as much wiggle room out of it as possible. But if you are not physically strong enough, let someone stronger do it, or you can always carry some elastic cords or a spider stretcher with you. The cameras themselves should do the job well though. Relax as much as possible again. When I first put them on I was able to hook 1 link on the inside of the hoop and 2 on the outside. After playing with it for about 15 minutes I was able to get 3 loose links on the inside hoop and 4 links on the outside. (Tired of getting 4 inside but couldn't). The chains were so tight I could barely tighten the cams, which is necessary. Hope that helps.
