UPDATE: It's December 2018 and I've been using this humidifier every winter since I bought it. I remain very satisfied with his work and everything I originally listed below still stands. I am still a very satisfied customer with a happy cello! Another plus, when the device is empty, it certainly stops fogging, the water level in the transparent side strip is gone, but the device also has a small soft blink. Sign to let you know it's empty. Very thorough and simple. π *Original review* I read and researched many reviews before deciding on a humidifier. I ended up choosing this one and am very happy with it. My main reason for buying a humidifier was to keep my cello at the correct 40% to 50% humidity level and the bonus was that the air was not dry in the winter. I bought this device in November 2014. Pros: * Controls with display are easy to use * Handle (notch in tank) makes it easy to lift tank, a groove in block helps guide tank in place * Extension pole with two pivoting guide holes on top, also comes with an extra one Top to direct the mist up, not out - this might be a new addition because I've read a lot of reviews about not being able to direct the mist. I am very happy with the topper with two pivot holes. If I need to reduce the amount of moisture directed at my cello but the reduction in mist output is too small, I turn one hole a little to the left and the other a little to the right and that solves the problem. - I really like the height of the wand to take the mist to a higher level * The transparent slot on the side makes it easy to see the water level in the tank * Warm mist or cool - I have other dissatisfaction reviews on this device read with warm fog function. . I agree that sticking your hand in the fog isn't particularly warm. The manual says the temperature of the water at the base of the machine, where the mist is generated, should be around 80 degrees. After mine worked I turned it off, removed the tank to check the water in it. I felt warm and very happy. The reason I bought warm mist was because cold mist tends to form mold. I'm happy with the warm mist option, although the mist loses heat as it moves up the tube. *I haven't had any issues with leaks - I always make sure the cap at the bottom of the tank is properly oriented and tight. . I've read reviews of other machines that have leaked, so I'm cautious. I also keep a humidifier in a transparent casserole dish for added peace of mind. I have hardwood floors and it's better to be safe than sorry. * Night light function - very bright (probably too bright) for a bedroom, but good if the device is in the living room or in a room where it's good to have a night light. The light can be easily switched off. The display backlight provides less light than the night light setting, which is better suited to the amount of light a bedroom needs at night. * Has a smooth appearance. I personally find it looks better than most moisturizers. * The sound is generally very low. When the filled tank is reinserted, the device takes a few sips to fill the space under the tank, after which the device takes a sip or two, perhaps every 30 minutes on a setting of two. * Settings - has three settings that I like to control. From memory, not the specs written in the manual, if I have it when setting up, I usually fill up the tank around day 3. Installation two may take a little over 24 hours. I don't know the third setting because I rarely use it. I like the first two settings best. The 3rd stage eliminates a lot of fog, but as the fog gets stronger due to the high power, it doesn't seem to go far and quickly falls to the ground. At the same time, I did not see any condensation or water accumulation on the floor. If I were to use 3rd stage more regularly I would probably set the fan to low speed to better move the mist around the room. Cons: * The internal hygrometer is not accurate. As I examined the humidifiers, I realized that the internal hygrometers weren't working at all. Maybe it's too close to the water source, not sure. So when I compared different devices, I didn't think about which hygrometers had advantages or disadvantages. I consider it a parameter that is not used. Knowing this, I planned to buy a separate hygrometer. I placed a cello hygrometer and can easily adjust the humidifier accordingly. * Night light - If you like to sleep in a dark room, the night light is too bright for you. Yes, you can turn it off, but the display backlight may be too bright. I think you can easily solve this problem by either turning off the Rotate humidifier so the display is facing the wall maybe close to the wall or by simply covering the display with cardboard, thick cloth etc as a valve could lift it up to view the screen if needed.
