I bought this for the second tap on my kegerator; the first used a regular stem with a separate tip. For the second Tap I wanted to go the same route but realized that I could save a few bucks and (almost trivially) hassle with a one-piece design.I was a little unsure of how this design was made (i.e. a solid piece or is it a regular stem with a welded stem, maybe poor quality and dead space difficult to clean?) But for the same price as a regular stem I was willing to try it This product appears to have been made from a single piece of stainless steel, which means there are no hygiene issues - in terms of on-site cleaning, it's even more hygienic than traditional design en stem, a washer or a beer nut. The manufacturer would suggest a 3" or even 2" version since my third step position doesn't allow for such a long shaft. However, I am happy with my purchase and would recommend it to anyone whose setup requires or can tolerate a 4" shank.
