I bought this phone to replace the original one I had. Lightning came and fried the base on my original. Yes, it was necessary to invest in a surge protector with a phone line receiver. Anyway, I've never had any issues with this phone or the previous one. Clean without intervention. My original phone was probably at least 3 or 4 years old when lightning caught it. I was just lucky enough to find a refurbished one at a great price. Now I have 4 phones instead of 2, but unfortunately only 3 chargers. But for the price it was a great phone.
