Peace of mind with emergency blankets

Thank god I haven't had the chance to use a fire blanket but it puts my mind at ease that I have given it to 10 family members to use if they ever need it. I had a house fire and I have a feeling that if it works the way I think it may have stopped the fire from spreading to the point where 1/4 of my house is destroyed and the rest heavily from smoke was damaged.
