Not the artisan of my youth

Many years ago when I was young the name Artisan was very familiar. Everything you bought with the Craftsman name was of the highest quality. By the way, their tools come with a lifetime guarantee. If one of these broke or didn't work properly, all you had to do was take it to a Sears store and buy a new one. Because of this, I expected this sharpening stone insert to be of the highest quality. It's not like this. The first indicator of poor quality is the lack of instructions. The stones are unmarked as to their use. Instead, the brochure lists a series of instructions on what to do and what not to do. They seem overly concerned about being held accountable for any mistakes they make. The second indicator is the attachment of the stone to the shank. It is applied rather imprecisely and is not a good indicator. I'm not sure how they will behave when used at full speed. They seem to wear out pretty quickly. Although I didn't use them all, I wore out very quickly. Considering the price, I expected it to last a lot longer. My faith in the Craftsman name has been seriously damaged. I am disappointed and cannot fully recommend these Craftsman sharpening stones. I'm sorry to say this after feeling for so many years, but I have to be honest. If you need a medium set of sharpening stones for your drill press, these are the ones to go for and will work just fine. If you're looking for a quality set of whetstones, look elsewhere.
