Review on 🚗 Metra 99-4505 GM Multi-Kit 3/4 Ext. 82-Up (Black) - Superior Vehicle Conversion Solution by Michael Zambrano

This video review is for Metra 99-4505. I am using this adapter to fit a DIN radio into a GM 1.5 DIN hole which is a common size for many GM vehicles. I checked Metra and Scosche adapters. I wanted an adapter that would fit the radio in the center of the hole rather than the top or bottom. Some other adapters have an EQ slot and the radio is above which I didn't want. With no equalizer, it feels like something is missing and you haven't bought any of the options available. Some features of this adapter. First, "the radio stands out." I like this for my application because my radio has a rather small display and it gets closer to me and I can see it better. There's also plenty of room behind the radio for cords, and there's room in the chassis so it's fairly well ventilated, which is important if you're running a head unit with enough power. Also, it is black, which is suitable for most cars. You can easily color match it to your decor. I planned this but couldn't find a paint color that would match my dash. Now this adapter comes with very small quantity. Download the PDF and you'll see exactly what you're getting. This particular part of the guide went to me. "Install Metra bracket(s) OR factory mounting bracket(s) to radio body". Okay, this is where I mistakenly assumed I had a "factory mount" since my car was completely stock. The brackets pictured on that page of the PDF were exactly what I needed but are NOT included and the PDF doesn't say they are included on the page that says what is included. I had to cut/trim metal brackets from my existing radio, drill special holes in the radio body, find screws and drill the brackets to fit the holes because they were now too wide for the width of the radio body thickness. It took some time. Spend an extra $5 or $10 on a bracket kit and save hours measuring, cutting, and drilling. Unfortunately I can't provide an exact model like this with brackets as there are so many suggestions and this model was the closest to what I wanted. I couldn't find one with the same radio body INCLUDING the brackets! So you tuck the case into the front panel and fold back the tabs to attach to the opposite side. Then slide the radio into the housing, screw the housing onto the car, done. The only complaint once installed is that the shiny silver metal casing is visible around the edges of the radio, which are mostly black. This is partly a complaint about the radio itself, which I will also review. The overlay that comes with the radio really needs to be a bit bigger to hide it. I painted my silver metal sleeve black so it wouldn't be so obvious. Also, it would work better if the walkie-talkie fitted snugly into the case. I can push the radio in harder and snap in a few extra protrusions sticking out of the radio, but then the faceplate won't fit. I didn't understand if I blame the radio or the adapter. So, in terms of rating, if I had the right brackets and the radio fitted perfectly I would give it a 5 out of 5. I don't. I give it a 4 out of 5. I blame most problems with it on the installer (me!), wrong product or radio itself. It's solid, fits perfectly in the hole, and the radio sits nice and tight, does not rattle or wobble. I would suggest going to Metra's online site and you can install it in your car and it will tell you what they have. fits and then buy here. Looks like 99-3300 would suit me better.
