I'm facing an Andis Slimline Pro GTX Breadscape Pro. To be honest, it was a very difficult decision between the two. I finally settled on the Andis Slimline because it better suited my needs. There's nothing wrong with that for Breadscape. In many ways, Beardscape was the best unit. In several crucial respects, however, Andis's sleek design was the deciding factor. Build Quality: Both devices feel solid. I've heard some reports of problems with the Andis power button and I'll admit that it's not very reliable. I could see that this is a heavy usage/barber issue. However, it seems reliable enough for the home user. On the other hand, Beardscape looks very solid. It has weight and a simple look and feel like a one piece unit. Winner: BearscapeUnit Size and Design: This is one of the key factors that I feel is more important than some of the other categories. Both are well designed. However, Andis' skinny appearance gives him an edge. Beardscape is no fool. This is a beautiful device. It looks and feels really well made. The removal blade design is easy to use. The beard cape is the larger unit. Its size compared to the Andis Slimline is its only downside. Andis feels great in hand. Yes, it feels a little less premium because it's lighter, but the size is pure perfection. Beardscape is just too big. Sometimes it can be harder to look around. Edging and fine-grain cropping made easy with Andis. Winner: Andis SlimlineBlade: Beardscape comes with an adjustable blade. At its lowest level it was close to zero. Very close to the base of the Andis Slimline GTX. The GTX blade is as close to blade zero as possible. Very close. GTX metal top and bottom. The standard Beardscape blade is metal on the bottom and plastic on the top. I wonder about the durability of the standard blade, but given my limited time with the machine, the standard blade cut well. However, if you buy the Beardscape Pro, it also comes with a Null Blade, and it really is a Null Blade. Metal top and bottom with no backlash. One of the main advantages of the Andis GTX Base is the T-Base compared to the straight Beardscape Base. For detailed work, the T-knife is more visible again and does this fine work. In addition, the GTX has a narrower blade, which in turn makes it easier to work with details. GTX is the perfect blade width and design. All things considered, if I'm declaring a winner, I should call it a tie. If you get the standard Beardscape, the Andis GTX Blade is the winner. The incisions are slightly tighter, narrower and more visible all around. When you add the Zero Blade Beardscape Pro, it becomes a lot harder to declare a winner. Depends on what you're up to. If you want true Zero Blade intimacy, then the Bearscape Zero Blade is your best bet. If you need a fine detail trimmer, Andis GTX is your best bet. Winner: DrawPower: Andis Slimline has speed. It's lighter and I bet there's less battery life at home. Beardscape has 5 speed settings that change the life of your dough and the speed of the blade. Bearscape sounded about as fast as Andis on the lowest settings. Ultimately, they both cut very well, and while I'll declare the bear cloak the clear winner, both seemed to have enough power to get the job done and never had a problem. Winner: BeardscapeBattery Life: Andis Slimline has a speed. It's lighter and I bet there's less battery life at home. Beardscape has 5 speed settings that change battery life. I used both devices for almost a month and shaved like every other day. Both had enough battery life that they didn't need to be charged. Beardscape has an LED screen and clearly shows you where your battery life is. Its weight also makes it feel like it's loaded with plenty of battery power. At the speed at which I've been using it it seemed like 6 months could pass between charges at minimum speed. Winner: BeardscapeFeatures, Extras & Kit: Both devices came with a charging dock and some protective cases. Andis came with 4 guards and no suitcase. Opening Beardscape reminded me of opening an Apple device. Only the design and the presentation were next level. Nice box, nice felt lined body and room for everything including adding a Pro Zero blade. It had 4 double sided fuses which in turn have their own place in the case. The case isn't small, so if travel size is an issue, it might be overkill. However, the suitcase is ready to take the hair clipper and all the accessories with you. Winner: Beardscape None of this ends up giving you a better haircut. Charging station: Both have an additional charging station. You can travel with just one cable and don't need a base. However, the charging station was the requirement for me that led me to these two devices and they both get the job done. The Andis base is smaller and therefore takes up less space on your desk. But the Beardscape base isn't much bigger. Beardscape's base also has a specific direction, while Andis was a round plug and therefore not unidirectional. Anyway, it doesn't matter. Winner: Tie. Final Verdict: Both are solid units and I think everyone will be happy with either. Beardscape is the best unit in every way. This is a leather working tool. Everything is ready and well done. Andis is also great for cutting, but is more of a scalpel. Its smaller size and narrower T-blade makes it easier to work with details compared to a beard. Its near-zero blade gives a shave that, in my opinion, is almost indistinguishable from the Zero Beardscape blade. I got this device to keep my cheeks and neck clean and also to tame hairs that are sticking out from under my beard. Andis is an excellent tool for this specific job. Now if you want to use beard trimmer guards, Beardscape has many more lengths and options. Please note that there are no guards attached to the zero blade. You must equip the standard Beardscape blade to use the guards. One more note in my case. I also have very good Wahl Elite clippers with a selection of quality attachments of various lengths. So I already have a squad that can use the guards to trim my beard. So it overlapped a bit with Beardscape. If you're looking for a gadget that can do it all, a beard cape is a fantastic gadget. If cropping those precise areas is your main goal, Andis Slimline Pro GTX is your best choice. That's why I chose the GTX. I hope this helps any guys pondering a decision like this.
