It's ok, just don't use RAID!

Reinstalling/upgrading my MSI x470 Gaming Plus computer was easy, but I have 25 years of work in the boxes. Paired with a Ryzen 2700 and 16GB Corsair 3200 RAM and a Samsung 970 500GB M.2 boot drive, I could tell right away that it was fast. And everything was fine, I was able to overclock to 4.2GHz and stock voltage, but it's a little warm even with the 3-hole heatsink covered. I find the 3.6 GHz boost good and fast enough. The BIOS wasn't that hard to figure out, but the instructions didn't help much. Information about this brand is vague, even on their website. After everything was reinstalled I hooked up a couple of WD 1TB hard drives in a RAID 1 setup. So far so good I was able to see and get back into the raid. At the same time, I noticed sleep/resume issues. And it went downhill from there. The computer went to sleep on its own, but when I pressed a key or mouse it restarted. When I turn on sleep mode, the screen turns off and the computer freezes. meh. In short, I did everything my 25 years of knowledge knew, I finally let Windums try to fix the installation and that was it. I disabled the RAID drives, reset the BIOS settings to default, I still couldn't get the damn thing to boot. In the end, with all drives unplugged, I found that I couldn't even install on an M.2 drive! Luckily I can safely erase the M.2 SSD drive in BIOS and only then can I reinstall Win 10 on the boot drive. For a while I really thought the board was fried. And again, all is well and good. But no raid, I won't go there anymore! Two WD 1TB drives work fine in non-raid mode. I've heard others have had similar issues with MSI's gaming MBs and Raid features. IF you want to try raids, make sure you have a good backup! For a gaming platform, this seems normal. I don't know what's wrong with the raid, whether it's hardware or software I would avoid if you want to run a RAID. Another option for me at MSI is a very lame forum. Not only is the layout confusing, but the black background with white writing blinds me when I'm trying to find a solution I haven't found. I was able to find answers on the x470 platform on the AMD forums. So, my main cons for this motherboard are: #1 - The reliability of the RAID functions is questionable. #2 โ€“ There is very little information in the manual. #3 - The MSI website/forum looks awful and not very helpful. #4- I only use AMD drivers as my clean install, software and drivers from MSI can be confusing. I would not recommend this board.
