I was trying to find the best speakers for the money for my Monoprice 25w tube amp and they were chosen based on other good reviews and also because I did wanted to keep in dark, natural walnut color. Retro/stylish hybrid tube amp theme. I couldn't be happier, I cracked them up on my Sony DN1040 receiver and they were great straight away but "warmed up" after about 20 hours of non-stop music playback. For a room stereo they have a lot of tight musical bass when mounted 6 inches from the wall through my 25w 2ch tube amp. When I listened to them for my home theater, they sounded almost as good as my Polk Monitor 50 towers! Home theater you will need a subwoofer, but if, like me, you use them purely for music production, they have plenty of bass and amazing clarity (and no, I didn't use EQ or DSP equalization). I've tried them with everything Beethoven related. Gary Clark Jr. and Three 6 Mafia and they didn't even break a sweat. Best $100 I've Spent in a Long Time!
