I had to strip 2 inches of insulation from a 12 gauge buried electric fence wire, and I tried to strip all the way to the wire (about 1/16 inch of material). It worked well but ruined the side of the cutter, stripped the teeth and left a curved surface instead of a flat one. I can still use it but my teeth seem more brittle than I expected.
