It was very easy to use. I checked for dirt around the pads prior to use - saw nothing. Connects easily and securely. The "open" lever is easy to press. I was a bit apprehensive about holding the lever for 10-15 minutes, but the pressure required is spot on - consider spraying whipped cream out of a can. I'm a little suspicious of the valve/lever design. as it looks like plastic or composite resin and may not be very strong or durable - do not overtighten! I WANT A LONGER HOSE. This may not be enough if your L-connector is deep in the engine bay. Also, its short length makes it difficult to use the "put the jar in a bowl of warm water" method, which really speeds up the process. Note on packaging - If you only cut off the plastic tabs on the side, you can keep the packaging for storing the hose along with the instructions. Finally, I found that HomeOrangeStore offers individual R-134a cans for less than $6. I like to keep a few cans on hand and have just used 3 cans on my Toyota Sienna.
