I have other side cutters and cutters. Basically they cut a little less than flush to be conservative I guess. I bought this bit because one of the bearings is slightly thinner than the other. I was hoping they could be swapped top and bottom, but that's not possible. The problem is that this bit is too successful. It cuts flush and a little more, which is a big problem for most applications, hence the one star. You can feel the carbide sticking out over the bearings. I'm keeping the bit because I think I can take the bearings off and remove some of the carbide on the diamond plate and maybe get it to cut perfectly flush, but I doubt most people would care. Wouldn't recommend this piece at all. It will most likely ruin your work piece. I'm doing fine with mine, but I'd be pissed if it ruined mine.
