I already had 3 Q cameras before deciding to buy this set of 2 so I'm pretty good at installing and configuring them . Right out of the box I couldn't get one of the cameras to work properly. Both connected and trying to update the firmware (both cameras required a firmware update). One was successful, the other not. Someone else here pointed out that they had the same issue. Rather than attempting to resolve this issue with Netgear support, I decided to take advantage of Revain's generous return policy and ordered another set. The second set arrived and I was able to connect the first camera and add it to my account. The second camera wouldn't let me add it and again based on other feedback I was able to determine that it was linked to someone else's account after all. This time I contacted Netgear support and after convincing them what the problem was I got them to separate the camera from its previous owner. Both cameras have been added and the firmware of both cameras has been updated successfully. The cameras work just as well as my other three. So you can take the risk of getting refurbished devices, but if you're smart enough you can handle the kinks and be the proud owner of some very good cameras. Since all cameras appear to be factory sealed, it looks like the seller is intentionally not shipping units with problems. The problems I think with Netgear's recovery lie in their lax attitude towards de-attributing cameras to their previous owners. BTW, I noticed that the wording in the Arlo app for adding cameras is slightly different than the wording on the Arlo website. I highly recommend keeping an eye on the website because at this point in the game, if the app hasn't changed yet, it's likely never to change.
