This is a cute little lamp that does exactly what I wanted, especially for the price. The assembled lamp looks exactly like the picture. Solid dark metal base with bronze highlights. Some people complain about the shade's "cheap look", but I think it looks good. This is thick cardboard that has a slight sheen when it's off; When it burns, short, dark, thread-like pieces are scattered around it, creating a pleasing effect. My umbrella was in perfect condition when it arrived. Installation was straightforward, requiring only a drill, tape measure, and a Phillips screwdriver. It took me less than 45 minutes from opening the box to turning on the finished product (and much of that was my obsessive double-checking of measurements). Some people have mentioned that the 1/4" bit is too wide for plastic wall anchors, but this size worked for me and gave a snug and secure fit when pushed in. I started with a 3/16" drill bit but all he did was not big enough for the anchor. I didn't want a 3 pin socket, but an equivalent 60w LED bulb works great for this, although it requires an "ON ON" twist to light up and an "OFF OFF" twist to turn off. The shade "attaches to the harp" allowing the CFL spiral lamp to fit easily. By the way, this lamp comes with a two-part cable cover. The product description is not clear.
