I have worked in the helmet industry for many years, traveled to Korea/China/Vietnam etc for making helmets. This helmet, like most other under $500 helmets in the industry, is junk but works just as well as the next one. The only criticism is that the cheeks are full at the top, so the glasses are slightly raised and therefore sit too high. My child tolerates it. As for safety, it's again ridiculous how poor helmet safety is today with all the technology. The bottom line is that until nobody complains and consumers agree that EPS is the best technology in the world, we'll never get any better. Lawyers are sticking with it, and other tricks like MIPS and the like are barely noticeable improvements. SNELL reviews are mostly a joke that sometimes does more harm than good, and DOT is even worse. ECE is probably the best test standard and there is nothing special about it. I tested this review unit myself and was shocked at how poor it is as a standard.
