I bought this to connect a Chromebook or spare laptop to an old CRT TV so we can watch Netflix on it. I was able to connect my Chromebook to my TV with RCA cables and setup my dual monitor settings to play Netflix on the TV. I could do the same with an old (Win7) laptop. Sound and video quality was good BUT. A deal breaker for me was that the video didn't appear as a "letterbox" but was instead stretched vertically to fit a 4x3 TV screen, something I was afraid might happen and a Effect I just can't stand. I couldn't find any settings in either device to make the TV display the video in the same aspect ratio as the computer. Can't say this is the fault of the adapter itself, which seems to be of decent quality, better than most cheap devices of this type. It does what it says on the tin and works better than I expected; In fact, I was skeptical that it would even work. If you have a higher tolerance for disproportionate videos than me, this use case might work for you. It's probably better suited for hooking up to projectors and the like, and I'll keep it in case the need arises.
