Definitely worth it / power limits for certain USB 3.0 and USB C devices

When I first looked at this product, there were no reviews yet, so I was in the buying process very skeptical but initially priced at $18. Along with an additional 10% discount, I took it for everything it offers. The price went up after the first batch was sold, which is the norm given supply and demand, so I'm glad I was one of the first adapters. Definitely much better than the internal USB 3.0 hub which I finally had to throw away after 6 years. This one is much slimmer, has a minimalist aesthetic and also gives you extra USB storage space. However, some USB devices do not receive enough power to work properly with this hub. For example, my Xbox wireless adapter gets power for ten minutes before automatically shutting down. I just switched the random switch drive on my PC for this. External drives work reasonably well and don't cause this problem, so it could be a software conflict between the hub and my wireless adapter. But overall a good MOBO alternative with multiple USB ports or for people like me who like to have more than they need. Also for those who want to use this hub for USB-C displays, it doesn't work at all as it doesn't supply enough power, just a warning. The extra USB-C port is a godsend as cases with USB-C ports are more expensive and some motherboards like mine only have a USB-C port which I used for an external drive before buying this hub . Definitely a cheap and effective way to add USB-C ports to your PC without the premium price and speed matching what you would get on your motherboard. Also, no SATA cable is required to get it up and running, which is required to power many USB hubs.

Pros
  • Maximum extension, most USB interfaces
Cons
  • Out of fashion
