Better to buy too much as I always break the straps on my Kirby.

My first Kirby lasted over 25 years and when my husband brought it in for repairs they persuaded him to buy a new Kirby. This one is over 20 years old and apart from the belt change I have had no problems with my machines. I've tried other brands of belts before but they just don't last as long. How can I pick up all the dog hair in my house without Kirby?
