I have never used them but got a set for recent work on my 10+ year old pickup truck engine. I will no longer do repairs without them. These items were needed to touch up the bolt holes in parts (particularly aluminum) that hadn't been disassembled since the truck was built. The taps are too aggressive and can easily cut or gouge the hole. Very useful for removing old thread sealant and cleaning rusty bolt threads for easy reassembly. Some parts reassembly would be a nightmare if the threads weren't screwed in first (e.g. reattaching the exhaust manifolds to the heads). Finger pressure (or manual rotation of the socket) is enough to use the coins. Be sure to use cutting fluid and clean the parts afterwards, especially when tightening. The classic method turn, retreat, turn works well here. Take your time and it works great.
