Funny Suit for Dogs in the Water

I bought this for fun. It's very silly to have a shark's fin and teeth and I thought it would be fun for my average 60 lb black mouth dog. She likes to get in the water, but only at the level of a sun lounger in a pool just a few inches deep. . We have tried several times to get her to swim with us and although she can, she doesn't like it. I thought she would have more fun if she could swim easier and didn't have to work as hard. We went to the pool yesterday so I put it on. We were talking about getting her in the water to try when she walked to the edge of the pool and got in the water herself. She panicked a little but started paddling and swam to the solarium and stood on it without looking very upset. So it works. She'd had enough of the pool for those few minutes, but she didn't seem upset or tense, she looked content with it. So I call it success. The construction of the life jacket seems to be quite solid. Heavy-duty nylon, large Velcro surface, and strong shoulder straps with heavy-duty nylon buckles. The straps are easier to adjust not on the dog, but on him, so fix them in advance if possible. In this respect, the cut is quite boxy, like normal human life jackets. She didn't seem to bother wearing it at all. The shark fin is attached to the back with Velcro and a plastic fastener. He doesn't always stand up straight. But it actually serves more than just looking silly, as it's made from a reflective material that really stands out when light shines on it. The vest also has a few other reflective strips that come in handy for night time visibility. The handle on the back feels sturdy enough to lift when needed. The shark teeth on the front add to the silliness, but I might consider removing them. It just sticks out from under her chin and doesn't look that comfortable. Overall I'd say it's a fun touch for a dog like ours who doesn't feel very safe in the water for pool use. If we were taking them on a boat yes I would take them but if I were an avid boater and bringing my dog I would look at more serious gear that could be more dog friendly all day. But for less than $20, if it helps her play pool more confidently, or at least be a fun, silly shark, it's worth it.
